Dr. Gal Hershko graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a Spanish minor. She then spent 6 months volunteering at a Children’s Cancer Hospital in Tel-Aviv.
Dr. Hershko completed dental school at the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Dentistry, and continued on to Yale University for a one-year General Practice Residency, followed by a two-year specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Hershko passed her American Board of Pediatric Dentistry Qualifying Examination, and scored in the top 20% in multiple sections including Craniofacial Growth & Development, Oral Pathology, Prevention and Anticipatory Guidance. She became Board Certified after passing the Oral Clinical Examination and earned Diplomate status of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Hershko is committed to continuing education with special interests in tethered oral tissues (TOTs) and airway management in infants and children. She is a certified member of Dr. Richard Baxter's Tongue Tie Academy, and an ambassador for The Breathe Institute (TBI). She has successfully completed training in the Myobrace System, and stays current with evidence-based research in order to apply the latest techniques to provide comfortable, conservative and modern practices for her patients.
Dr. Hershko uses the most efficient, carbon dioxide laser system, the LightScalpel CO2 laser, to perform gentle and precise soft tissue procedures. The CO2 laser minimizes bleeding and discomfort, and promotes rapid treatment and healing times. She treats infants and children, alongside functional specialists, with the goal of improving children's oral motor skills and setting them up for quality feeding, speech and airway journeys.
